About Nigerian cowhide

[The difficult process of manufacturing baseball gloves and the search for cowhide from Africa]

At the beginning of this project,

Traditional Japanese sewing techniques × Non-standard leather with scratches etc. × Made in Nigeria

We manufactured baseball gloves under the theme of "We are a company that produces high-quality baseball gloves."

However, in African countries where the average monthly income is between 12,000 and 20,000 yen, the reality was that no matter how low the manufacturing costs were, the price would still exceed 20,000 yen.

We wanted to somehow reduce our costs and provide high-quality, affordable baseball gloves, so we began searching for African cowhide.

At first, I had no idea how difficult it would be.

First of all, you should be able to find cowhide around Abuja, the capital of Nigeria!

I walked around the leather stores with high hopes, but all I could find was high-quality leather imported from Europe.

What we were looking for was genuine , local leather grown on the soil of Nigeria.

Next, I gathered information from local people in Nigeria that I met through baseball.

According to information provided by many baseball lovers, including the Nigeria Baseball Softball Association (NBSA) and local academy coaches, there is an area in northern Nigeria where leather dealers gather! It looks like you might find the ideal cowhide there!

I quickly booked my plane ticket and headed to the site, where I found many leather businesses and factories.

I saw the same equipment I had seen in Japan and was excited to see if they might have the cowhide I was looking for.

but···

The reality is different...it is too thin to be used for baseball gloves...it has scratches and stains...the leather is too hard to insert a sewing needle...

It was a far cry from the glove leather we were looking for.

Almost giving up, I decided this was the last factory I visited...

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found it! The cowhide that is close to my ideal!

The baseball gods have not abandoned us!

We provided samples of Japanese cowhide and met with a cowhide processing factory that patiently continued to make improvements. We had numerous meetings with the factory,

And it's finished!

This cowhide is close to the ideal size for gloves!!

A glove made entirely from Nigerian leather was born.

Unlike Japanese cows, cows are inevitably lacking in nutrition, just as humans are lacking in nutrition.

It is thin and not the perfect ideal cowhide, but it has been repeatedly processed and polished to perfection, without compromise.

I'm so moved (crying)

I asked them to reprocess it countless times, and they never showed any signs of dissatisfaction.

We would like to thank Globus Enterprises Nig Ltd, who has worked with us in the pursuit of the ideal cowhide.

I truly cannot thank you enough!

Thank you so much, Globus Enterprises Nig Ltd!

Along with my joy, I was able to sense the infinite potential of the Nigerian leather industry.

The Nigerian leather gloves being sold this time come in two varieties: gloves made in a single color (the original color of the leather), and "colorful" gloves made by infusing color into the Nigerian leather and changing the color of each part.

We have gloves for kids as well as adults!
