Opening of the Professional Baseball Development Academy
In order to further promote baseball, to find new possibilities for the sport, and to share success stories, we will be visiting Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, Africa.
We would like to open a professional baseball training academy for serious kids who are serious about becoming a professional baseball player and who can seriously devote themselves to practice with the goal of becoming a professional baseball player. We would appreciate your support and encouragement! ⚾
The academy coaches will be Amir and Manat, who are also Nigeria's glove manufacturing managers.
The purpose of our academy is to
1. Providing a spiritual education through baseball and cultivating children with rich humanity
2. Taking baseball seriously and producing future professional baseball players
The theme is "."
What is important in this academy is
① Mental education in Japanese style baseball
② Physical exercises for Nigerian children
With these two as the basic axis
① In the Japanese style of baseball, the mental aspect of education is not just to improve baseball skills,
- Follow the rules
- Respect others
- Respect
We place emphasis on mental education , which is still lacking in Nigeria, Africa, and conduct classroom lessons and field training .
Also, ② in the exercises that are suited to the physical needs of Nigerian children ,
- Rather than focusing on the correctness of pitching or batting form, Japanese-style baseball values the individual "ease of doing it"
- We provide fun baseball practice tailored to the needs of each child.
In particular, children in the lower grades of elementary school don't yet know anything about baseball or understand the rules.
Therefore, we start by introducing games such as "Kickbase," which has simple rules, and the baseball game "Power Pro," and helping children understand the rules in a fun, game-like manner.
[Current state of baseball in Nigeria]
Abuja, Nigeria, where the academy is scheduled to open, once had a baseball ground.
It was built about 10 years ago and is a very nice ground with benches, toilets, a scoreboard and a back net.
However, it has not been repaired or renovated, and now,
The toilet is broken and unusable...
The equipment is abandoned...
The grounds are uneven and not well maintained...
Furthermore, the lawn and grass are mixed together and it is in disrepair...
And unfortunately, the unkept baseball grounds have been taken over by cricket, which has become a bigger sport than baseball...
The concept and culture of repair and renovation is not widespread not only in Nigeria, but throughout Africa.
Once I make something, I leave it there. I use it without worrying if it breaks.
The same goes for homes. Even if they leak, we don't repair or renovate them, and we continue to use them even if they break down or the roof is gone.
First of all, we will use the donations to maintain, repair and renovate the baseball field that has fallen into disrepair over the past 10 years, and create an environment where players can practice properly .
*We have been fortunate enough to receive permission from Abuja National Stadium to carry out this project and use their name.
As part of what we can do now, we are taking the time to start by picking up trash at the baseball field.
Nowadays, the amount of trash has finally decreased, but before, there was plastic bottles, snack bags, broken glass...it was definitely not an environment conducive to playing baseball.
We,
- It begins and ends with a bow before practice.
- We begin by teaching students gratitude for the environment, and then spend 30 minutes cleaning up the grounds, including picking up trash, before starting practice.
We want to teach children that being able to play baseball is not something to be taken for granted , and that it is a common culture in Japan to use the environment we are given in a good way for as long as possible, and to help them develop a rich spirit .
The Abuja National Stadium to be used
The area has been cleaned up little by little, but the facilities still need repairs. The toilets are out of order. The grass has been worn down by crickets.
[Exploring new possibilities in sports]
Nigeria is one of the leading soccer nations in Africa.
In the past, they have been a strong country, having advanced to the round of 16 in the World Cup.
Basketball has also become popular in Nigeria in recent years, and former NBA player Hakeem Olajuwon is also from Nigeria.
Soccer and basketball are very popular sports with a history of success.
However, there are many children for whom soccer and basketball are not suited .
However, many children are unaware of various sports , and the options are not as wide as in developed countries.
There are many children who don't know anything about soccer or basketball and think it has to be soccer or basketball.
A Nigerian born with the physical characteristics of a strong physique, soft muscles, tall stature, and very long limbs.
There are many children who , if they learn baseball, can harness this physical potential and become future professional baseball players, creating new success stories for Nigeria .
We will develop their potential and provide them with mental education through baseball, with the primary goal of them becoming professional baseball players . Even if they do not make it, we hope to contribute to the development of the Nigerian economy by producing children who are rich in humanity .
