Christmas Bonus in Nigeria – A Belated Gift

Nice to meet you, I'm Manato, a Nigerian expatriate!

Apparently it is a common practice in Nigeria to give bonuses to staff at Christmas.

I didn't know about this, and only found out when a staff member told me about it!

Although it's a little late, we decided to prepare and distribute Indomie, rice, oil, salt, and seasonings as a "late Christmas bonus."

These are things that are often used in local homes, so I thought they would be practical...

The staff all looked happy when they received their gifts, and they all went home satisfied.

Since coming to Nigeria, I have had more opportunities to learn about these cultural differences. I am slowly getting used to the local customs, but I feel like I still have a lot to learn.
